Start-Up HMSWeb Ltda
Last month (July), a spin-off of Forship Engenharia Ltda gave rise to a new company, HMSWeb Tecnologia da Informação Ltda, whose mission is to develop IT solutions specific for management of industrial fixed asset projects, considering the phases of construction, assembly, mechanical completion, commissioning, start-up and handover; thus, contributing decisively towards the success of our clients’ projects.
Inspiration for the name of the company came directly from its flagship product, the software HMSWeb, a comprehensive solution for the management of mechanical completion and commissioning, originally developed by Forship Engenharia, based on its long experience from over 40 commissioning projects and 4 millions of man-hour. “The product was developed from the commissioning needs, and brings in its “DNA” an engineering knowledge, rendering it an outstanding specialized tool, capable of generating substantial added value”, stated Luciano Gaete, Director of HMSWeb Ltda.
Upon launch, HMSWeb Ltda already had 2 major clients, namely Braskem and Samarco. Currently, Braskem, through HMSWeb software, is exercising control over 50 projects distributed throughout all its industrial units, and has already taken a decision to adopt the solution for all of its company’s projects, estimated to number 300 by the end of 2008. Meanwhile, Samarco has licensed HMSWeb for the Third Pelletizing (Terceira Pelotização) project.
Besides these clients, our more recent and equally important conquests, include Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás and Minerações Brasileiras Reunidas (MBR), company of the Compania Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) Group. Our supply scope includes the licensing of HMSWeb for MBR’s Itabiritos project, and for Queiroz’s drilling platform construction projects, Gold Star and Lone Star.
HMSWeb also presents great potential to be used by foreign operators and contractors. It was recently homologated by Exxon Mobil to be used by companies contracted to build their new fixed assets. Chevron also homologated HMSWeb at the beginning of 2007, and the system will be deployed in the Mafumeira Norte project, from Chevron/Sonangol, whose transaction was made by DMSForship, a joint venture between Forship and the Angolan company, DMS.
The following remark was made during the homologation phase of HMSWeb:
“The product is well designed and thought out with some excellent features such as the web interface and response time”
Despite the success so far, the development of HMSWeb just forges ahead. Indeed, our strategic plan has scheduled an aggressive investment campaign in a constant effort to enhance and upgrade the product to reflect the ultimate in technology and dynamic nature of the client’s needs. A wide range of new functions have already been planned, such as incorporating the use of palm tops, and new specialized management modules for the areas of construction and assembly.
