HMSMobile: 5 years of success

Rio de Janeiro, March 26th, 2020 - Digital tool used for the first time five years ago ratifies innovation in commissioning

An innovating HMSWeb solution, the digital tool HMSMobile was used for the first time in two emblematic projects of VALE: the Adaptation of Cauê Power Plant (Itabiritos program), in the State of Minas Gerais; and the huge undertaking S11D (Mine-Power Plant), in Canaã dos Carajás, in the Southeast portion of the State of Pará – considered the greatest mining project in Brazil ever.

‘It was a major innovation, since it rendered the traditional commissioning process, which used to have only paper evidence, digital,’ affirms Luciano Gaete, Officer at HMSWeb Tecnologia da Informação. In a short time frame, the tool presented considerable productivity gains, reducing the man/hour rate and improving the quality. ‘We estimate an average productivity increase of 40% after the adoption of the digital tool, which became crucial for commissioning projects,’ he adds.

Continuous improvement

The executive recalls that, initially, some resistance was expected from the teams that were more experienced in the use of HMSWeb tool. However, this did not happen. ‘HMSMobile was readily accepted by the field teams, since they found out that it provides the process with the same lightness as HMSWeb, as well as offers the advantage of mobility and the consequent increase in the agility to undertake their activities,’ says Gaete.

‘HMSMobile is an unique platform due to its assertiveness and comprehensiveness to meet all requirements of the commissioning process, while keeping itself light, simple and objective, and providing our clients with unprecedented management capacity and transparency to run the commissioning of their projects,’ stresses the HMSWeb’s executive.

The biggest project in which it was applied is S11D, which counted on the participation of several contractors of VALE. ‘Approximately 120,000 objects and 500,000 activities were controlled through this digital platform, used in many fronts and by hundreds of simultaneous users,’ recollects Gaete.

Even with the excellent results, the solution is being continuously upgraded, with an assertive improvement roadmap both for HMSMobile and for HMSWeb, including the delivery of the new module to preserve the tool, foreseen for the first semester of 2020 and already demanded by clients such as TECHINT and VALE.
